DIER (Employment Relations)
The Department of Industrial and Employment Relations — handles worker complaints and employment disputes.
DIER (Department of Industrial and Employment Relations) is the Maltese government body responsible for employment standards and dispute resolution. If you have a problem with your employer — unpaid wages, excessive hours, unsafe conditions, or contract violations — DIER is your first point of contact.
You can file a complaint in person, by phone (+356 2122 6681), or online. You do not need a lawyer. DIER can investigate, mediate, and in some cases impose penalties on employers. It is separate from the police and from Identità Malta. Complaints to DIER do not affect your permit status.
