Pre-Departure Course
A mandatory online orientation programme for first-time Single Permit applicants, effective from 1 March 2026.
The pre-departure orientation course is a requirement introduced on 1 March 2026 for all third-country nationals applying for a Single Permit for the first time. It is taken online before travelling to Malta.
The course covers key topics including workers' rights and obligations, health and safety at work, everyday life in Malta (transport, healthcare, housing), and cultural integration basics.
Completion of the course is required before Identità Malta will issue the Single Permit. Workers in the tourism and hospitality sector must also complete the Skills Pass programme.
