Residence Card
The physical ID card issued to Single Permit holders, serving as proof of legal residence in Malta.
The residence card (sometimes called the residence permit card) is the physical document issued by Identità Malta once your Single Permit application is approved. It functions as your primary identification within Malta and proof of legal residence.
The card contains your photo, permit validity dates, and employer details. You need it for: opening a bank account, registering for healthcare (Entitlement Card), renting property, and interacting with government services. If you change employers, a new card is issued with the updated details. Keep a photocopy in a safe place — replacement can take weeks.
