Malta's integration programme. Since 15 June 2026 it offers only the 100-hour Cultural Orientation course (previously Stage 2), which counts towards long-term residence.
I Belong is Malta's integration programme, run by the Human Rights Directorate. Since 15 June 2026 it offers only the 100-hour Cultural Orientation course (previously Stage 2). Stage 1, the foundation courses and the I Belong language courses have been discontinued.
To join the 100-hour course you need a residence permit, asylum seeker document or CIO document issued in Malta, and either an I Belong Stage 1 certificate or a certificate from the New Course on Maltese Language and Culture, which is taught in Malta by approved providers.
The Human Rights Directorate says completing the 100-hour course is considered one of the requirements for long-term residence. Its published entry requirements do not mention the pre-departure course certificate.
