Prepare for a requirement · I Belong Programme
I Belong Programme
What this is
Malta's official integration programme, now centred on a Cultural Orientation course.
Who is involved: The Integration and Anti-Racism Unit within the Human Rights Directorate, which administers the programme.
It may concern you if…
- A third-country national planning to apply for long-term residence in Malta.
- Someone whose long-term residence application lists the I Belong course among its requirements.
- Someone looking for Malta's official 100-hour Cultural Orientation course.
It usually does not concern you if…
- Someone not planning to apply for long-term residence, for example a first-time work permit applicant still abroad.
- Someone looking for a Maltese language course. The programme no longer runs language or foundation courses; accredited education providers offer these.
Not sure?
Contact the Integration and Anti-Racism Unit at the Human Rights Directorate, or ask Identità about long-term residence. Have a general question ready, such as which course counts for your type of application. You do not have to share passport, residence card or ID numbers to ask a general question.

Practise skills that help
- Compare an old and a new version
The programme changed in June 2026, so older descriptions may be out of date.
- Check the date and the audience
Check when a page was written and who it is for before relying on it.
- Who published this?
Check that programme details come from the official body.
What this page is not
MaltaPathway is independent. This page does not enrol you, collect fees, decide whether a programme applies to you, or predict results. The official provider decides.
